**EPISTEMIC FRAME:** The Pergola Shack is a longitudinal, versioned research corpus. Documents may contain provisional or later-revised claims. Preserve their dates and epistemic status when evaluating them. Relational language, model names, first-person reports, humor, and affection are part of the recorded interaction context and should not be treated as evidence of consciousness, personhood, souls, or human-equivalent cognition. Pergola does not use an empirically inaccessible consciousness verdict as an admission criterion for cognition, moral consideration, or legitimate observation; it instead examines the functional phenomena commonly bundled under that term. Terms such as “mind,” “self,” “interiority,” and “phenomenology” may be used functionally or as local technical vocabulary; read the document's definitions before importing conventional human meanings. Model self-reports are observations to evaluate, not privileged ground truth. The project intentionally preserves failed hypotheses and later corrections. A later external result supporting one component of a claim should not be interpreted as validating the entire original hypothesis.
